Mustard Algae and Black Algae treatment

Salt Water pools generate chlorine using a device called a salt cell.  When the salt cell stops working, no chlorine is generated.  Without chlorine in your pool, algae can take over quickly. Pool algae can appear as green, yellow (mustard) and black.  Green algae can usually be killed quickly (when treated early) by shocking the pool, brushing the entire pool and running the filter for 24hrs.  Yellow algae can be more difficult to kill and will require an algaecide and vigorous brushing.  A high chlorine level must be maintained when killing yellow algae or else it will begin to bloom again and the shocking process will have to be repeated.  Black algae can be extremely difficult to kill even when shocking or using an algaecide. Once it's roots get into the plaster, you may never completely rid the pool of black algae. We were recently contacted to address a yellow and black algae problem due to a salt cell failure.  The client shocked the pool and treated it with an algaecide, but the algae remained.  Check out our results in 24hrs.  If you're not getting the results your desire, call JB Grande at 850-625-9750 for our Green to Clean service.

Rejuvenate your Jets

That's right. Sometimes you have to treat your pool or spa to some therapy.  Your pool is exposed to the elements 24 hrs a day.  Organic material like leaves, sticks, dirt and sand enter your pool daily. Swimmers introduce oil, sweat, makeup and many other things that can affect the water quality.  Some pool chemicals can also react with the copper pipes in the pool heater and cause a rust colored stain on your plastic and vinyl parts such as your return jets or pool steps. It's very important to determine the cause of the staining and type of staining before a remedy is prescribed. The parts below weren't replaced, they were rejuvenated. We are extremely fortunate to add another client to our pool route. This owner chose to add our grill cleaning service to our weekly pool cleaning service. The owner and guests of this pool call it paradise.  We call it our new office "for 30 minutes a week".  Who wouldn't want to be a pool technician when this is the view from your office?     

Shocking!

Something is growing in your pool.  Your water is turning cloudy.  It's time to shock it. 

Shocking your pool is a process of elevating your chlorine to high levels.  Shocking can be more of a process than an event if it's not done early enough.  If your pool is turning cloudy and green you'll need to act fast.  

Tips for shocking chlorinated pools:

• Test your water using a professional test kit and record your results 
• Adjust Ph levels first (Chlorine can be more effective at lower Ph levels)
• Shock your pool at dusk to avoid chlorine loss due to direct sunlight
• Brush, brush and then brush some more 
• Let your filtration system run over night
• Test your water again in the morning and compare the results. If your chlorine levels have diminished throughout the night, increase chlorine immediately. 
• Continue the process until your chlorine levels remain constant from night to morning

Remember... No swimming in the pool during the shocking process.
